What consists of a legal marriage in Virginia?
A legal ceremony in Virginia can be quite basic; however, it does require obtaining a marriage license from a Virginia Circuit Court. The spectrum of complexity of a ceremony can range from a couple of minutes to elaborate. Vows, ring exchanges, and other additions are all totally your call.

What documentation is required?
You will need a valid marriage license issued to you within the last 60 days.

Where can I get married?
It is possible to get married almost anywhere in Virginia. The most significant requirement is that everyone involved has permission to be on that property from the landowner and/or their representative. Most homes that you are legally permitted to occupy, courthouses, parks, and public spaces are generally okay for small events, but it is always a good idea to check in advance.

What are the fees?
Drop-in ceremonies at our Chesterfield location are $155 and payment confirms the appointment. On-location ceremonies are quoted individually based on date, time, location, travel, and ceremony needs.

What happens after I pay for a drop-in ceremony?
You will receive a confirmation email with your appointment details, next steps, a private ceremony portal link, and an intake form link. If you already have your Virginia marriage license, you can complete the intake form right away.

What happens after the ceremony?
Once we complete a ceremony, your celebrant will sign your marriage licenses and return them to the appropriate Virginia Circuit Court. After the court receives your license, if you paid for a certified copy, it will be mailed to you.

What do I do if I want to move forward?
If you want a simple drop-in ceremony, use the drop-in booking page to choose a time and pay securely. If you want us to come to you or you are not sure what you need, use the initial contact form and we will review the details before sending next steps.

Once I get penciled in, am I locked in?
At no point are you under contract or locked in. We will help you understand the next step for your plans.
